Just as well..if you have more weight in the back than front..it'll create a greater amount of shift in weight and naturally the front wheels wont provide much traction that way either. Compared to a FF if the front end were slightly heavier it will still lift of course..but the launch would be much quicker.
All you want to do is to find some middle ground to set your car up on. That way it'd be easy on the street and ready for the track. Not everything can be reproduced on the street the same way on the track but, no car is perfect. I just plan on having a car that can get me to point A to point B quickly and safely. Beat lap times on the tracks. Kick some ass on the street. Mine probably wont be very pretty on the inside..considering nothing will be occupying the inside except for a driver and passenger..everything else is removed or replaced to reduce weight. I think having the weight towards the front end of the car should help it launch a little better right? As for excessively reducing the weight..it leaves the frame and shell of the car pretty vulnerable to flexing...a rollcage should add to a lack of structure in the middle and span to the roof creating support for the shell. Wheel spacers would also help increase the stance of your ride and handling characteristics a little better. Its cool if you have a job to support yourself through all this...I can respect a guy that does his research. Hope your project turns out killer.
I definitely know what you're sayin. Thats kinda what I'm doing myself. In terms of researching suspension setups. I just plan on having my car setup to be a daily driver and weekend track car. Power-to-weight also plays a big role in suspension setups too. But the fact that it is after all a FF car...all the power and turning capabilities are stressed upon the front wheels..make it sort of prone to understeer unless of course you can always work around that. I see you're planning on tuning it for autocross
